A RALLY OVER AN ATTACK

Manila - In part of the commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the League of the Filipino Students (LFS), members of this militant youth group had conducted a lightning rally in front of the United States Embassy in Manila in protest of the “continued US intervention in the Philippines last September 11, 2009.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of LFS, Terry Ridon stated that the continued implementation of the Visiting Forces of Agreement (VFA) and other unequal treaties with the US has taken away the victories of decade’s worth of Filipino struggle against US intervention such as the dismantling of US Bases in 1991.

Members of the militant group take in handed their objections in deal with the RP-US military intervention in front of the United States Embassy in Manila. Terry Ridon, the Secretary General of LFS said that the presence of the United States troops in the Philippines undermines the supposed sovereignty and independence of the country.
This was the statement of the LFS during the Anti-VFA protest rally on September 16th, the anniversary of the 1991 Senate abrogation RP-US Bases Agreement. Such abrogation expelled US troops from the Philippines and dismantled all its military bases, including Subic Bay Naval Base and Clark Airfield.

“After a decade since it was ratified, we ask what the people has gotten out of the VFA. The supposed aid that is being given by the US troops in Mindanao service nothing but a smokescreen to their intervention in the country. It is nothing If it costs our freedom.” Said Ridon.

Added to, the September 11 attack in World Trade Center in NY and the Pentagon in Virginia who were assaulted by the military group Al Qaeda led by Osama Bin Laden which brought “War on Terrorism” invading Afghanistan which is still being carried out by the US government.

Wala na kong magagawa
Para mapigilan ka
Tinatanong ko ang sarili
Kung san ako nagkamali

Di ko rin inakala
Na ika'y mag-iiba
O kay saya ko sa 'yong piling
Bibitaw ka rin pala

Di ka ba nanghihinayang sa atin
Kailangan pa bang tapusin

Sandali lang
Wag mo munang
Sasabihing ayaw mo na
Di ba pwedeng
Pagusapan ang lahat ng ito

Kaya pala unti-unting lumalamig
Ang iyong mga halik
Di ko na maramdaman
Ang dati mong pag-ibig

Di ka ba nanghihinayang sa atin
Nagsawa na ba sa akin

Sandali lang
Wag mo munang
Sasabihing ayaw mo na
Di ba pwedeng
Pagusapan ang lahat ng ito

Di ko alam kung may nagawa akong kasalanan
Bigla ka lang nang-iwan ng walang dahilan
Walang dahilan
Sandali lang

Wag mo munang
Sasabihing ayaw mo na
Di ba pwedeng
Pagusapan ang lahat ng ito

Sandali lang

The Mounting Organization in PUP-CoC

By: Jesus Guinto

Sta. Mesa, Manila - As one of the leading colleges of Polytechnic University of the Philippines, the College of Communication still make a blast performance within the scope of university and in the national through media. This is all because of the ruling power and extraordinary ability of the college’s organizations. The college therefore once again has proven that it is truly a Certified Outstanding College.

The college gained its 3rd level accreditation despite of its young age. The College of Communication was founded eight years ago. According to Professor Felix Cabahug, the current Chairperson of the Department of Journalism of the said college, “Hindi magkakaroon ng level three accreditation kung hindi productive ang mga organizations ng mga departamento ng CoC. . . that was last year. That means productive tayo.“ His basis of productivity is the number of rakets. “Yung Movers and Motion, lagi kasi silang naiinvite sa labas eh, kaya marami silang raket. Kumikita talaga sila. Movers and Motion. Syempre susunod dun yung ano, Teatro ata. Tapos pangatlo yung Ensemble. Yung maraming raket, yun yung productive,” he added.

Gabriel Mallari, the President of the Student Council of the college based his opinion on who performs the best and works very hard. For him, Teatro Komunikado excels among others. “Di ba sila yung laging ginagabi dito, sila yung laging may trainings dito. Saka siguro naging professor ko si Mam Viray, nakita ko yung ginagawa ng Teatro. Kasi di ba si Mam yung adviser nila. Ayun saka yung mga kaklase ko rin Teatro sila, nakikita ko na lagi silang may ginagawa, laging sila ang productive, kumbaga talaga may org sila hindi lang para may gawin, nagkaroon sila ng org para matuto rin sila.” Mallari stated.

Meanwhile, Angelito Bautista, president of the Bachelor in Communication Research 3-1D class said, “The most active organization here in the College of Communication, Communication Society, Movers and Motion, and Teatro Kom.” But specifically, he thought that Teatro Komunikado is also the most productive since it’s much related to broadcasting unlike other organizations.

After its 8th founding anniversary, CoC is looking forward to have more competitive students and organizations in its college not just within the college and university programs and activities but also in a higher scope.
